In 2004 we joined hundreds of other support workers on the Gold Coast during schoolies week to serve and support young people. Our strategy was to provide a presence in the community to prevent potential dangerous situations from escalating as a result of substance abuse or other factors. Our work primarily provides a safety net for school leavers and we partner with other organizations such as security, police, ambulance and first aid to provide the best possible outcomes.
Our work over the pass few years working with schoolies on the Gold coast and P&O cruises has birthed a vision to serve and support young people in our local area. There are young people in our region in need for similar care. By being a presence on the streets, at house parties and at events where young people are, we aim to provide prevention measures than decrease the risk of young people harming themselves, others and the community at large.
Now, because of the vision that has now been launched, teams of Volunteers hit the streets, parties and events to serve and support young people, believing that young people can be reached and become essential and valuable contributors to the fabric of our community.
